Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to acknowledge the hard work which has allowed the Wando High School team to be undefeated for sixty-two consecutive games and garner the state championship for the fourth year in a row; and

Whereas, in a sport that requires rigorous training, speed, agility, and strength, the Wando High School Lady Warriors won every match, not only in the championship game against Mauldin, but also in every one of the four play-off games that led to the final game in Columbia; and

Whereas, senior Jessica Diamond won the AAAA/AAA State Singles Tournament and was named Player of the Year by the Coaching Association of Women's Sports, by the High School Sports Report, and by the Charleston Post and Courier. She has also signed a national letter of intent to play tennis for Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama; and

Whereas, the five seniors on the Wando team, Landon Chitty, Jessica Diamond, Taylor Langford, Brooke Mosteller, and Elizabeth Spelman, have played on the team since the ninth grade or longer and helped the team win all four state championships; and

Whereas, using their athletic ability and experience, the coaches led by Coach Rebecca Williamson have forged a championship tennis team that has repeatedly brought home the gold; and

Whereas, the South Carolina Federation of High School Coaches, the Coaching Association of Women's Sports, and the High School Sports Report recognized Coach Williamson as 2007 Class AAAA Coach of the Year for her leadership of the Lady Warriors tennis team; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives applaud the Lady Warrior tennis team that has brought pride and credit to the school and community through four successful seasons with state tennis titles. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend the members of the Wando High School tennis team for an undefeated season, and congratulate the team and the coaches for securing the 2007 Class AAAA State Championship title.
