Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are grateful for the more than forty-three years of dedicated and exemplary service that Sally Wilson Hughes has given to the citizens of Abbeville County; and

Whereas, born and raised in Antreville where her father ran a cotton gin, Sally Wilson graduated from Dixie High School; and

Whereas, she has been married to her beloved husband Melvin Dewey "Billy" Hughes for forty-five years, and she is a member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church in Greenwood; and

Whereas, on November 16, 1964, Sally Hughes began serving Abbeville County with the formation of the Tax Equalization Office, now the Tax Assessor's Office, and she has served through the many changes that office has seen in its forty-three years; and

Whereas, she enjoys her friends in the local Red Hat Society, and she has exhibited miniature villages with collectors in her Department 56 group; and

Whereas, while the members of the South Carolina General Assembly regret that Sally Wilson Hughes will leave public service in Abbeville County after forty-three years of commitment to her duties in the Tax Assessor's Office, we wish her the enjoyment of a much-deserved retirement. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
