A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND DR. JULIE S. VON FRANK, OF FLORENCE COUNTY, FOR HER SERVICE THROUGHOUT THIRTY-FOUR YEARS AS AN EDUCATOR, UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT, AND TO WISH HER SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are pleased to learn that Dr. Julie S. Von Frank has devoted thirty-four years to educate the students of our fine State; and

Whereas, Dr. Von Frank earned a bachelor of science from Francis Marion University, and a master's degree in secondary mathematics and a doctorate in educational administration from the University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, she has taught mathematics and computers at the middle and high school levels and has served as a secondary principal and assistant principal and as an assistant superintendent; and

Whereas, Dr. Von Frank has participated in numerous professional organizations and is a former secretary of the Delta Kappa Gamma Education Society; and

Whereas, her teaching was recognized in 1988 when she was named the State Presidential Awardee for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching. In 1996, she was honored as the Assistant Principal of the Year for the State of South Carolina, and in 2008, the SCAAA Class AA Principal of the Year; and

Whereas, with her beloved husband, Francis Marion University professor Dr. James Von Frank, she has raised two fine sons, Jared and Aaron; and

Whereas, Dr. Von Frank has further served her community on the administrative board for the Child Care Center of her church home, Macedonia United Methodist Church, as a secretary and treasurer of the Mullins High School Athletic Booster Club, on the Marion County Arts Council, on the Greater Mullins Chamber of Commerce, and as a field director for the Miss South Carolina Scholarship Pageant; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are deeply grateful to Dr. Julie S. Von Frank for her thirty-four years of service to the youth of South Carolina and are pleased to know that she anticipates her much-deserved retirement. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and commend Dr. Julie S. Von Frank, of Florence County, for her service throughout thirty-four years as an educator, upon the occasion of her retirement, and wish her success and happiness in all her future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Julie S. Von Frank.
