A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE MRS. DOROTHY JONES HUNDLEY, OF LEXINGTON COUNTY, ON THE OCCASION OF HER NINETIETH BIRTHDAY, AND TO WISH HER A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND MUCH HAPPINESS IN THE YEARS TO COME.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that Mrs. Dorothy Jones Hundley, of Lexington County, will celebrate her ninetieth birthday on August 3, 2008; and

Whereas, one of three children, Mrs. Hundley was born in Burnettown on August 3, 1918, just a few years after the dawn of the twentieth century, and she has been witness to nearly all the incredible changes and developments that have come to this nation from that time into the twenty-first century; and

Whereas, the young Dorothy was nurtured at Connie Maxwell Children's Home in Greenwood and after graduation she was employed by the South Carolina Department of Transportation until her retirement; and

Whereas, married first to Arthur H. Hendrix and then to Jack Hundley, both deceased, Mrs. Hundley is the proud mother of three children: daughter Ann Hendrix St. John and her husband, Dr. James I. "Jim" St. John, current Chaplain of the South Carolina Senate; son Samuel H. "Sammy" Hendrix and his wife, Elizabeth W. "Betty" Hendrix; and daughter Dorothy Hendrix Slocomb and her husband, Will S. "Bill" Slocomb; and

Whereas, the House is proud to honor this truly lovely lady at the celebration of her ninetieth birthday and joins with her family and friends in congratulating her on reaching this extraordinary milestone. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Mrs. Dorothy Jones Hundley, of Lexington County, on the occasion of her ninetieth birthday, and wish her a joyous birthday celebration and much happiness in the years to come.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Hundley.
