A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO REQUEST THE STATE BUDGET AND CONTROL BOARD TO SUBMIT A REPORT TO THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE REGARDING SPECIFICATIONS TO BE USED IN SCHOOL BUSES AND TO PROVIDE THE BOARD SHOULD NOT ENTER INTO CONTRACTS TO PURCHASE NEW SCHOOL BUSES UNTIL THE REPORT IS SUBMITTED TO THE SENATE.

Be it resolved by the Senate of the State of South Carolina, that the State Budget and Control Board is requested to submit a report to the Senate providing information about:

(1)    the cost of new emissions systems that are currently required to be installed in new school buses pursuant to the School Bus Specifications Report promulgated in May 2007; and

(2)    any specifications which may have the de facto tendency to prefer one bus manufacturer over another.

Be it further resolved that the board should not execute any contracts for the purchase of new school buses until at least ten days after the report is submitted to the Senate.
