CONGRATULATING THE ORDER OF THE EASTERN STAR IN SOUTH CAROLINA ON THEIR ONE HUNDRED YEAR CELEBRATION AND PROCLAIMING JUNE 18, 2007, AS THE ORDER OF THE EASTERN STAR DAY.
Whereas, The Order of the Eastern Star is a Masonically related fraternity of women and men dedicated to charity, truth, and loving kindness; and
Whereas, membership in The Order of the Eastern Star is based on a Masonic affiliation or relationship, a belief in God, a desire to acquire additional knowledge, and self-improvement; and
Whereas, the degrees of The Order of the Eastern Star teach lessons of fidelity, constancy, loyalty, faith, and love. These degrees are presented in a ritualistic ceremony designed not only to teach the lessons, but also to provide insight for future study and understanding; and
Whereas, Local Eastern Star Chapters select charities and places of service to support their individual communities, including scholarships for ministerial students, general scholarships for youth, homes for aged members, and organizations for young women and men. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate The Order of the Eastern Star in South Carolina on their one hundred year celebration and proclaim June 18, 2007, as The Order of the Eastern Star Day.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to The Order of the Eastern Star in South Carolina.
