A SENATE RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING GENTRY'S POULTRY COMPANY FOR THEIR TRADITION OF SERVICE TO THE SALUDA COUNTY COMMUNITY AND THEIR GENEROUS DONATION OF A TOWN CLOCK TO THE TOWN OF SALUDA.

Whereas, Gentry's Poultry Company, located in Saluda County, is an integrated poultry operation with a product line spanning all parts of poultry, distributing products throughout South Carolina and Georgia; and

Whereas, Gentry's Poultry Company, was founded in 1955 by Wesley M. Gentry, Sr., and began as a small family-run business; and

Whereas, Gentry's Poultry Company continued to flourish under the direction of. Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Gentry, Jr., with the help of their sons, Wesley M. Gentry, III and Larry E. Gentry. This success has continued into the twenty-first century with third and fourth generation family who have preserved the family tradition of service to the citizens of the town of Saluda and Saluda County, employing over one hundred members of the community; and

Whereas, family member Matthew Gentry currently serves on the South Carolina Poultry Federation Board of Directors; and

Whereas, Gentry's Poultry Company has generously donated a town clock to the town of Saluda. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, do recognize Gentry's Poultry Company's tradition of service and contributions to the Saluda County community and thank them for their generous donation of a town clock to the town of Saluda.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Gentry's Poultry Company.
