VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CELEBRATE THE SEVENTH ANNUAL SOUTH CAROLINA PECAN FESTIVAL, TO BE HELD ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2010, IN FLORENCE, TO ENCOURAGE ALL SOUTH CAROLINIANS TO ATTEND AND ENJOY THIS FAMILY-FRIENDLY EVENT, AND TO WISH ITS ORGANIZERS EVERY SUCCESS FOR A GREAT EVENT.
Whereas, the seventh annual South Carolina Pecan Festival will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010, in the heart of downtown Florence; and
Whereas, eagerly anticipated by increasingly larger numbers of South Carolinians and out-of-state visitors, fifty-five thousand of them last year in a city of only thirty-five thousand, the festival promises more than two hundred vendors offering a multiplicity of food options and arts and crafts, as well as family-friendly attractions such as a Kids' Fun Zone, with its inflatables, games, stage entertainment, and a petting zoo; and
Whereas, races, musical offerings, an amusement-rides area, and other attractions, punctuated by yearly favorites like the Masterworks Choir concert and Pecan Cook-Off, are also on the agenda; and
Whereas, this year, the footprint of the festival has been expanded to include a portion of the downtown historic district, which will feature music and dance performances by various ethnic groups, and the Pee Dee Classic Cars Club will fill two blocks and two parking lots with its popular traditional exhibit of award-winning classic cars; and
Whereas, recently proclaimed the official state pecan festival by the South Carolina General Assembly, the South Carolina Pecan Festival was born out of the idea that nearly everyone in Florence has a pecan tree in his or her backyard; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives commends the festival organizers for bringing this delightful event to South Carolina and encourages all South Carolinians to patronize and enjoy its offerings. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, celebrate the seventh annual South Carolina Pecan Festival, to be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010, in Florence, encourage all South Carolinians to attend and enjoy this family-friendly event, and wish its organizers every success for a great event.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to the South Carolina Pecan Festival.
