The House assembled at 10:00 a.m.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by Rev. Charles E. Seastrunk, Jr., as follows:
Our thought for today is from Psalm 125:2: "As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people."
Let us pray. O loving God, help us to feel the warmth and depth of Your presence in our life. As You have provided for and made Yourself known to the people of old, surround us with that same presence, that we may feel the love and caring and protection of Your presence. Thank You for this week and give us rest and refreshment this weekend to prepare us for the work to come. Bless our Nation, State, and all who labor in these Halls of Government. Protect our defenders of freedom at home and abroad as they protect us. Hear us, O Lord, as we pray. Amen.
