TO CONGRATULATE YORK COUNTY'S NATION FORD HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BAND ON WINNING THE 2009 SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS AAA STATE MARCHING BAND CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, on October 31, 2009, the Nation Ford High School marching band outscored all comers to grab the 2009 South Carolina Class AAA State Marching Band Championship title at Woodmont High School; and
Whereas, as exultant Falcon fans looked on, their marching band packed up the first state-championship trophy garnered in Nation Ford's three-year history, making the victory an especially sweet one; and
Whereas, one hundred thirty members strong, the Nation Ford High School marching band headed into its state win with the 2009 Class AAA Upper State Marching Band Championship title already safely sent home; and
Whereas, the Nation Ford High School marching band's 2009 record clearly testifies to the musical and instructional excellence of its director, Martin Dickey; and
Whereas, congratulations are also in order for the parents, school administrators, and officials of Fort Mill School District-York 4, who supported the band and its staff all the way to the top; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives is pleased to recognize such an exceptional group of young musicians and expects to hear of continued achievements in the years ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate York County's Nation Ford High School marching band on winning the 2009 South Carolina Class AAA State Marching Band Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Beverley Bowman and Band Director Martin Dickey of Nation Ford High School.
