VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-17-115 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A SCHOOL DISTRICT MAY NOT OFFER A COMPENSATION PACKAGE TO A DISTRICT ADMINISTRATIVE EMPLOYEE OF THE DISTRICT THAT EXCEEDS NINETY-NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 17, Title 59 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-17-115. (A) A local school district of this State may not offer a compensation package to a district administrative employee of the district that exceeds ninety-nine thousand dollars.
(B) As used in this section:
(1) 'Compensation package' means all forms of payment extended to the employee including, but not limited to, salary, fringe benefits, and personal and professional membership fees; and
(2) 'District administrative employee' means an employee employed by the district that performs administrative functions with regard to the district."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor and applies to contracts entered into or renewed after the effective date of this act.
