A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE SOUTH CAROLINA'S 2012 DISTRICT TEACHERS OF THE YEAR ON BEING SELECTED TO REPRESENT THEIR RESPECTIVE SCHOOL DISTRICTS, TO WISH THEM CONTINUED SUCCESS IN THE FUTURE, AND TO EXPRESS APPRECIATION FOR THEIR DEDICATED SERVICE TO CHILDREN.

Whereas, district Teachers of the Year undergo a rigorous screening and assessment process to be selected as the top teacher in their district; and

Whereas, representing all teachers in South Carolina, these educators act as role models and mentors for their colleagues in each of their districts; and

Whereas, district Teachers of the Year have hundreds of years of combined teaching experience and possess a proven ability to make a positive difference for their students, schools, and communities; and

Whereas, South Carolina is fortunate to have such dedicated and caring teachers working with South Carolina's youth; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the General Assembly to pause in their deliberations to honor these teachers, who amply provide their students the opportunity to live complete and successful lives as the future leaders of our community. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate South Carolina's 2012 district Teachers of the Year on being selected to represent their respective school districts, wish them continued success in the future, and express appreciation for their dedicated service to children.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to each school district Teacher of the Year.
