To whom was referred a Bill (S. 510) to amend Section 40-47-760 of the 1976 Code, relating to exemptions from the Acupuncture Act of South Carolina, to add physicians trained to perform acupuncture, etc., respectfully

TO AMEND SECTION 40-47-760 OF THE 1976 CODE, RELATING TO EXEMPTIONS FROM THE ACUPUNCTURE ACT OF SOUTH CAROLINA, TO ADD PHYSICIANS TRAINED TO PERFORM ACUPUNCTURE TO THE LIST OF EXEMPTIONS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 40-47-760 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:
"Section 40-47-760. This article does not apply to:
(1) the practice of acupuncture if it is an integral part of the program of study by students enrolled in an acupuncture education program under the direct clinical supervision of a licensed acupuncturist with at least five years of clinical experience and the program is accredited or is a candidate for accreditation or is actively seeking accreditation from ACAOM;
(2) a person employed as an acupuncturist or an auricular detoxification specialist by the United States Government if these services are provided solely under the direction or control of the United States Government;
(3) the practice of acupuncture by a physician, as defined in Section 40-47-20(35), who has successfully completed an acupuncture program that has been approved by the board."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
