VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE FORMER STATE TROOPER CORPORAL JULIUS Z. DUKE II OF FLORENCE COUNTY UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT, TO COMMEND HIM FOR MORE THAN FIFTEEN YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS A STATE TROOPER, AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES FOR MUCH SUCCESS AND FULFILLMENT IN THE DAYS AHEAD.
Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly has learned that in February 2013 Corporal Julius Z. Duke II of Florence County began a well-deserved retirement after more than fifteen years of meritorious service as a South Carolina State Trooper; and
Whereas, exemplifying the Highway Patrol motto of selfless service, integrity, and responsibility, Corporal Duke faithfully and diligently served the people of South Carolina in various capacities, as a volunteer firefighter, as a Florence County Sheriff's Deputy, and notably as a member of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, there achieving the rank of corporal; and
Whereas, he served on the Florence County Sheriff's Department's SWAT team and was a team leader for the South Carolina Highway Patrol's A-CERT (Advanced Civil Emergency Response Team). In serving with both of these elite teams, he regularly put himself in harm's way for the protection of the citizens of this State; and
Whereas, his tireless dedication and service earned him the respect of co-workers, fellow citizens, and state leaders alike; and
Whereas, over the course of his career, Corporal Duke not only dedicated his own time and energy to public safety, but, as a respected leader and instructor, also helped prepare countless others for a career dedicated to service. Those he prepared include members of the Highway Patrol, State Transport Police, Bureau of Protective Services, and many other members of the law enforcement community; and
Whereas, he will long be remembered for his outstanding work, and his friends and colleagues, as well as the community at large, will greatly miss him; and
Whereas, grateful for the legacy of consistent commitment and excellence Corporal Julius Duke has bestowed on this great State, the General Assembly is pleased to wish him well as he enjoys retirement and trusts he will find much pleasure in the more leisurely pace of the days ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate former State Trooper Corporal Julius Z. Duke II of Florence County upon the occasion of his retirement, commend him for more than fifteen years of dedicated service as a state trooper, and extend best wishes for much success and fulfillment in the days ahead.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Corporal Julius Duke.
