TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND KENNETH CECIL "K. C." BRADDOCK, JR., FOR HIS OUTSTANDING ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA, AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM UPON EARNING THE COVETED RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT, SCOUTING'S HIGHEST HONOR.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that K. C. Braddock of Troop 224, the son of Colonel Kenneth C. and Mrs. Sara A. Braddock, has successfully completed the requirements for the rank of Eagle Scout; and
Whereas, K. C. initially joined Scouting in 2001 as a Cub Scout in Pack 6 in Wilson, North Carolina, where he earned the rank of Tiger, and when the family moved to Lewisville, North Carolina, in 2002, he joined Pack 752 where he earned the ranks of Bobcat, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos. In 2005, he earned the Arrow of Light; and
Whereas, he moved to Columbia in 2006 and joined Boy Scout Troop 224 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Blythewood, where he has served in numerous troop leadership positions, including senior patrol leader, quartermaster, chaplain aide, scribe, patrol leader, and assistant patrol leader; and
Whereas, during his time in Troop 224, K. C. has earned the ranks of Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star and Life, and he was elected to the Order of the Arrow, the National Honor Society of the Boy Scouts of America, in 2009; and
Whereas, exceeding the requirements for Eagle Scout, he earned twenty-nine merit badges, and he completed his Eagle board of review and was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout on August 14, 2012; and
Whereas, his Eagle project involved constructing a parking area for the Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery, work which represented a total of 79.75 hours of community service; and
Whereas, to earn the rank of Eagle Scout, a Boy Scout must demonstrate that he lives by the principles of the Scout Oath and Law in his daily life; he must plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project helpful to any religious institution, any school, or his community; and he must earn a total of twenty-one merit badges, actively serve in a position of responsibility within his troop for six months, take part in a Scoutmaster conference, and complete an Eagle Scout board of review; and
Whereas, only five percent of Boy Scouts complete these rigorous requirements to achieve the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the legacy of Scouting in America and take great pride in acknowledging the accomplishments of young South Carolinians like K. C. Braddock who selflessly give of their time, talents, and energy to enrich their local communities and our State. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend Kenneth Cecil "K. C." Braddock, Jr., for his outstanding accomplishments in the Boy Scouts of America, and congratulate him upon earning the coveted rank of Eagle Scout, Scouting's highest honor.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to K. C. Braddock.
