A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO REQUEST THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NAME THE PORTION OF SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAY 221 IN THE CITY OF CHESNEE FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAY 11 TO ITS INTERSECTION WITH OCONEE STREET "MAYOR C. E. 'CLIFF' EDWARDS HIGHWAY" AND ERECT APPROPRIATE MARKERS OR SIGNS ALONG THIS PORTION OF HIGHWAY THAT CONTAIN THE WORDS "MAYOR C. E. 'CLIFF' EDWARDS HIGHWAY".

Whereas, the Honorable C. E. "Cliff" Edwards served as mayor of the City of Chesnee for thirty-eight years; and

Whereas, during his tenure as mayor, he played an instrumental role in the economic development of the City of Chesnee, as well as spearheading the effort to widen South Carolina Highway 221; and

Whereas, it would be fitting and proper to name a portion of South Carolina Highway 221 in his honor. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the Department of Transportation name the portion of South Carolina Highway 221 in the City of Chesnee from its intersection with South Carolina Highway 11 to its intersection with Oconee Street "Mayor C. E. 'Cliff' Edwards Highway" and erect appropriate markers or signs along this portion of highway that contain the words "Mayor C. E. 'Cliff' Edwards Highway".

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation.
