TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR KEVIN DAVID GADSDEN, SR., FOR OUTSTANDING AND TIRELESS SERVICE TO HIS COMMUNITY.
Whereas, it is altogether fitting and proper that the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives should pause in their deliberations to commend Kevin David Gadsden, Sr., for his dedicated volunteer community service; and
Whereas, a native of Charleston, Kevin David Gadsden is the seventh of nine children born to the late Sadie Brenda Alston Gadsden and Joseph Herbert Gadsden II; and
Whereas, after graduating from Burke High School, he earned a bachelor's degree in organizational management and marketing at Voorhees College; and
Whereas, Kevin has served with Coca-Cola for twenty-eight years, starting as a route salesman, and he has held various managerial positions within the company and currently serves as the multicultural marketing manager of the South Carolina region; and
Whereas, he has successfully completed numerous programs for management training, such as Management and Leadership Skills and Coca-Cola USA Managing Today's Youth; and
Whereas, formerly, Mr. Gadsden served as the chairman of the State Extension Advisory Council, which advises South Carolina's two land-grant institutions, South Carolina State University and Clemson University; and
Whereas, he is a member of the NAACP, Lily Work #10 Free and Accepted Masonic Lodge, 100 Black Men of Charleston, and the Trident Urban League; and
Whereas, for his dedicated leadership and service in the Charleston community, Mr. Gadsden was awarded a proclamation from the City of Charleston by Mayor Joseph P. Riley and the City Council members; and
Whereas, he was honored by the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives for his tireless work ethic and his support of, and dedication to, the South Carolina Chapter; and
Whereas, together with his beloved wife of forty years, the former Etta Marie Bryant, Kevin Gadsden reared three fine children: Shawndell, Latoshia, and Kevin, Jr. They have blessed their parents with eight adoring grandchildren; and
Whereas, with his family, he is a member of New Israel Reformed Episcopal Church, where he serves as a senior vestryman, and as an avid reader of the Bible, he firmly believes, "All things are possible, if we trust and believe God's Word and His Truth"; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is grateful for the outstanding volunteer service of this dedicated citizen, whose service addresses needs in our communities that would likely not be addressed without volunteer effort and whose life teaches the nobility of service above self. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Kevin David Gadsden, Sr., for outstanding and tireless service to his community.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Kevin David Gadsden, Sr.
