TO PROVIDE THAT NOTWITHSTANDING THE PROVISIONS OF A JOINT RESOLUTION OF 2014 BEARING RATIFICATION NUMBER 150 AND THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 59-1-425, THE GOVERNING BODY OF DORCHESTER SCHOOL DISTRICT TWO MAY WAIVE THE REQUIREMENT THAT SCHOOLS MAKE UP FULL DAYS MISSED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER FOR FIVE OR FEWER FULL SCHOOL DAYS THAT STUDENTS WHO ATTEND SCHOOLS OR CHARTER SCHOOLS IN THE DISTRICT MISSED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER DURING THE 2013-2014 SCHOOL YEAR REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE DISTRICT HAS EXHAUSTED ALL STATUTORILY REQUIRED MAKE-UP DAYS REMAINING ON THE 2013-2014 SCHOOL CALENDAR.
Amend Title To Conform
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of a joint resolution of 2014 bearing ratification number 150 and the provisions of Section 59-1-425, the governing body of Dorchester School District Two, the governing body of the Berkeley County School District, and the governing body of the Spartanburg County School Districts may waive the requirement that schools make up full days missed due to inclement weather for five or fewer full school days that students who attend schools or charter schools in the district missed due to inclement weather during the 2013-2014 school year regardless of whether the district has exhausted all statutorily required make-up days remaining on the 2013-2014 school calendar. When the district waives a make-up day pursuant to this section, the make-up day also is waived for any student participating in a home schooling program approved by the board of trustees of the district in which the student resides.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
