VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR MR. MARION DONNAN LAWSON FOR HIS YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS PRINCIPAL OF PICKENS HIGH SCHOOL AND TO WISH HIM MUCH SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS AS HE EMBARKS ON A NEW POSITION AS ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT FOR THE PICKENS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT.
Whereas, after many years of outstanding work as principal of Pickens High School, Mr. Marion Donnan Lawson will soon embark on a new journey as assistant superintendent for the Pickens County School District; and
Whereas, in his new role, Mr. Lawson will serve as the primary point of contact and evaluator for all principals and program directors in the district; and
Whereas, Mr. Lawson has been an exceptional leader for Pickens High School. He has served as principal for sixteen years. During his tenure as principal, Mr. Lawson also served as president of the Pickens County Principals' Association, president of the South Carolina High School League AAA Conference, president of the South Carolina High School League Executive Committee, and was named AAA Conference Principal of the Year; and
Whereas, prior to his service as principal of Pickens High School, Mr. Lawson was the principal at Dacusville Middle School and assistant principal at Easley High School; and
Whereas, Mr. Lawson began his career as a teacher at Liberty High School. He later taught at Seneca High School, Easley Junior High School, and Easley High School; and
Whereas, Mr. Lawson is a graduate of Furman University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in history and a master's degree in secondary administration. He is currently pursuing his doctor of education degree from North Central University and is expecting to complete the program in 2017; and
Whereas, the members of the Senate are pleased to honor Mr. Lawson for his years of outstanding service and wish him well in all his future endeavors. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and honor Mr. Marion Donnan Lawson for his years of dedicated service as principal of Pickens High School and wish him much success as he begins a new position as assistant superintendent for the Pickens County School District.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Marion Donnan Lawson.
