VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THOMAS "TOM" EDWARD ASHLEY, FINANCE DIRECTOR FOR ORANGEBURG CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT 4, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AFTER SIXTEEN YEARS OF EXEMPLARY SERVICE, AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, it is altogether fitting and proper that the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina should pause in their deliberations to express their gratitude to Thomas "Tom" Edward Ashley for his significant contributions to Orangeburg Consolidated School District 4; and
Whereas, a native of Orangeburg, Tom Ashley is the proud son of Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Ashley. He followed in the footsteps of his father who served with the Southeastern Association of School Business Officials from 1975 to 1976; and
Whereas, in preparation for his life work, Tom Ashley earned a bachelor's degree from Clemson University and served for twenty years as an auditor supervisor at the South Carolina Department of Education, beginning in 1978; and
Whereas, he became the finance director for Orangeburg Consolidated School District 4 in 1998, and like his father he served the Southeastern Association of School Business Officials as its state director from 2007 to 2014. Recognized throughout the State for his high standards of work and personal warmth with his colleagues, he also served as a board member for the South Carolina Association of Governmental Organizations; and
Whereas, together with his beloved wife of thirty-five years, Betty, he reared two fine daughters, Katherine and Randi; and
Whereas, he plans to spend many happy hours of retirement with his cherished family and friends between his home in Orangeburg and his home in the mountains and in planting plots for hunting; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the years of unparalleled dedication that Tom Ashley has devoted to Orangeburg Consolidated School District 4 and wish him many years of enjoyment in his well-earned retirement. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Thomas "Tom" Edward Ashley, Finance Director for Orangeburg Consolidated School District 4, upon the occasion of his retirement after sixteen years of exemplary service, and wish him continued success and happiness in all his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Thomas "Tom" Edward Ashley.
