VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO EXPRESS DEEP AND UNFEIGNED APPRECIATION TO JOHN HARRELL, ESQUIRE, OF CHARLESTON COUNTY FOR HIS YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA JUDICIAL MERIT SELECTION COMMISSION AND TO WISH HIM SUCCESS AND FULFILLMENT IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, aware that this great State could not carry out its diverse duties without the assistance of the many citizens who selflessly serve, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are deeply grateful for the many years of service John Harrell, Esquire, has given to the Palmetto State as a member of its Judicial Merit Selection Commission; and
Whereas, in preparation for his distinguished career, John Harrell earned a bachelor's in English from the University of South Carolina in 1990 and a juris doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center in 1998; and
Whereas, he founded the Harrell Law Firm, PA, in Charleston in 2001, which focuses on real estate closings and real estate law generally and also handles matters in construction litigation, insurance defense litigation, and general client services; and
Whereas, Mr. Harrell serves as an adjunct professor at the Charleston School of Law where he teaches alternative dispute resolution. This course involves instruction in the study and practice of the law and skills necessary for negotiation, mediation, and arbitration; and
Whereas, with a sense of deep commitment to public service, John Harrell served on the South Carolina Judicial Merit Selection Commission from 2007 until 2014 alongside the six members of the General Assembly on the commission and as one of only four commissioners chosen from the general public; and
Whereas, he and his beloved wife, Alexandra, have three wonderful children and have continued to reside in his native Charleston; and
Whereas, with deep appreciation for his years of outstanding service to the South Carolina Judicial Merit Selection Commission, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives bid farewell to John Harrell and wish him Godspeed in the days ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their deep and unfeigned appreciation to John Harrell, Esquire, of Charleston County for his years of dedicated service as a member of the South Carolina Judicial Merit Selection Commission and wish him success and fulfillment in all his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to John Harrell, Esquire.
