TO CONGRATULATE THE REVEREND CLINTON EDWARDS, JR. UPON HIS TENTH ANNIVERSARY AS PASTOR OF FRIENDSHIP BAPTIST CHURCH OF AIKEN.
Whereas, born in Augusta, Georgia, Rev. Clinton Edwards, Jr. was educated in Richmond County Schools and graduated from T. W. Josey High School in 1980, where he participated in sports and was president of the student council. He studied at Morehouse College and earned a bachelor's degree at Paine College in Augusta in 1985. He earned a master's in adult education in 1995 from Georgia Southern University, and after God called him to preach, he earned a master of divinity at Erskine Theological Seminary in 2000; and
Whereas, he trusted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age and was licensed at Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Augusta in 1996. Reverend Edwards served as a pastor White Rock Baptist Church in Lincolnton, Georgia, and was ordained to the ministry in 2001. He accepted a call to pastor Friendship Baptist Church in Aiken in 2005, and under his leadership, the church has purchased six properties surrounding the main campus; and
Whereas, employed for twenty-seven years at Savannah River Site, he is a member of the Concerned Ministers Fellowship of Aiken and served as president of the City of Aiken Police Athletic League; and
Whereas, he and his beloved wife, the former Robbin L. Keith, have reared three fine children: Marcus, Brittany, and Clinton III. They have blessed their parents with three adoring grandchildren; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives celebrates with Reverend Edwards and his congregation his first ten years of ministry at Friendship Baptist Church. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Reverend Clinton Edwards, Jr. upon his tenth anniversary as pastor of Friendship Baptist Church of Aiken.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Reverend Clinton Edwards, Jr.
