TO WELCOME THE HONORABLE BARACK OBAMA, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, TO THE GREAT STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA ON FRIDAY, MARCH 6, 2015.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to welcome President Barack Obama to the Palmetto State to enjoy the remarkable people and scenic locations to be found in our State; and
Whereas, in his first trip to the Palmetto State as President, President Obama will visit Benedict College to hold an event with students and youth leaders at the invitation of President David Swinton and the Benedict College family; and
Whereas, the event is related to his one-year-old initiative called My Brother's Keeper which is aimed at improving the lives of young minority men; and
Whereas, President Obama won the 2008 South Carolina Democratic Primary over rivals Hillary Clinton and John Edwards, secured his party's nomination, and was elected to a first term as President in 2008 and a second term in 2012; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives of the State South Carolina are grateful for the leadership of President Barack Obama and welcome him as he visits the Palmetto State. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, welcome the Honorable Barack Obama, President of the United States of America, to the great State of South Carolina on Friday, March 6, 2015.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Honorable Barack Obama.
