VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE BELTON HONEA PATH HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL TEAM FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THE PLAYERS ON WINNING THE 2015 CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, in a nail-biter of a game, the Belton Honea Path High School baseball team grabbed top honors at the state title series on Saturday, May 23, 2015, with a 3-2 match that saw the Bears hold off a late comeback by Hartsville; and
Whereas, the game went twelve innings after being tied at the end of regulation, leading to extra innings and action that kept Bear fans on the edges of their seats; and
Whereas, with this triumph, Belton Honea Path racked up its fourth state title (1990, 1991, 2009, and 2015) in front of packed stands, a crowded fence, and a large contingent of ecstatic supporters; and
Whereas, using his own considerable athletic training and skills, Head Coach Steve Williams built his players into championship caliber and encouraged them not to settle for second best; and
Whereas, proud of these fine student athletes, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the recognition the Belton Honea Path High School baseball players have brought to their school and community, and the members look to hear of many more victories for the school in coming seasons. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Belton Honea Path High School baseball team for an outstanding season and congratulate the players on winning the 2015 Class AAA state championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Principal Lester McCall and Coach Steve Williams of Belton Honea Path High School.
