VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR KYLE HARPER AS HE LEAVES HIS SERVICE AS A PAGE IN THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM ON HIS UPCOMING GRADUATION FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA HONORS COLLEGE AND TO WISH HIM GODSPEED IN THE DAYS AHEAD.
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Kyle Harper of Richland County will graduate summa cum laude from the University of South Carolina Honors College and the Darla Moore School of Business; and
Whereas, Kyle is the son of C. Lem Harper, Jr., and Brenda Harper and the grandson of the late C. Lem Harper, Sr., a former member of the South Carolina House of Representatives; and
Whereas, he graduated from one of the four magnet schools at Richland Northeast High School as salutatorian in 2012, where he was captain of the varsity soccer team; and
Whereas, honored by selection to Palmetto Boys State, Kyle Harper was recruited by colleges and universities across the country and chose to attend the University of South Carolina Honors College and the Darla Moore School of Business as a Carolina Scholar; and
Whereas, during his entire college career, he remained on the President's List, completing his course work for a bachelor's degree at the University of South Carolina Honors College and the Darla Moore School of Business in just three years. He was honored by induction into Beta Gamma Sigma, the premier honor society recognizing business excellence; and
Whereas, at the same time, Mr. Harper held several part-time jobs. He served three years as a page in the South Carolina House of Representatives, two and a half years with the University of South Carolina Alumni Association, one year as a tutor of high school students, and a half year writing a daily blog for the All In Movement, a Christian based organization in Louisiana; and
Whereas, deeply committed to his church, The Harvest, he led youth group services and attended the church's Invasion Leadership School during the last three summers; and
Whereas, Kyle's thesis for graduation will cover his ministry with Adventures in Missions World Race, a unique mission trip and challenging adventure for young adults to abandon worldly possessions and a traditional lifestyle for the sake of the Kingdom of God. He will join Team Kindred in July 2015 to travel to eleven countries for eleven months to help, as Christ said, "the least of these," while living among indigenous people; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives deeply appreciates the service that Kyle Harper has rendered to this chamber as a page for the past three years, and the members celebrate his successful completion of an outstanding academic career and wish him continued success and happiness in all his future endeavors. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Kyle Harper as he leaves his service as a page in the South Carolina House of Representatives and congratulate him on his upcoming graduation from the University of South Carolina Honors College and wish him Godspeed in the days ahead.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Kyle Harper.
