A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 11-1-130 SO AS TO PROHIBIT A PUBLIC OFFICIAL FROM UTILIZING ANY ASSET TO ASSIST IN THE RELOCATION OF MIDDLE EASTERN REFUGEES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Chapter 1, Title 11 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 11-1-130.    Notwithstanding any provision of law, regulation, rule, or order to the contrary, a public official, officer, or employee of a public body, or any other person or entity during the provision of services on behalf of a public body, shall not utilize any assets, state funds, or funds authorized or allocated by the State to any public body, in whole or in part, to assist in the relocation of Middle Eastern refugees. For purposes of this section, 'public body' means any department of the State, any state board, commission, agency, and authority, and any public or governmental body or political subdivision of the State, including counties, municipalities, townships, and school districts."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
