VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE MR. AND MRS. CECIL WAYNE RORIE OF CHESTERFIELD COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO THEM FOR MANY MORE YEARS OF BLESSINGS AND FULFILLMENT.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Rorie will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary on January 29, 2016, at a golden anniversary reception to be held in their honor on January 31, 2016, at Jefferson First Baptist Church; and
Whereas, born to Pearl and Preston Rorie in Monroe, North Carolina, Cecil Rorie graduated from Forest Hills High School. Martha Ann Oliver was born in Kannapolis, North Carolina, the daughter of Blanche and David Oliver, and graduated from Pageland High School; and
Whereas, in 1966, when camellias send their colorful blooms abroad, Cecil and Martha pledged to one another a lifetime of love and sharing as they were joined in holy matrimony in Pageland on January 29; and
Whereas, together they owned and operated Rorie Hardware and Well Drilling Company, and since 1982, Mr. Rorie has served as a South Carolina State Constable, the only constable in Chesterfield County; and
Whereas, Mr. and Mrs. Rorie live in Jefferson and have served their community on the Jefferson Rescue Squad, he since 1979 and she since 1981, totaling more than seventy years; and
Whereas, members of Long Branch Baptist Church in Jefferson, they reared a fine son, Doug Rorie, who with his wife, Susan, blessed them with two treasured grandchildren, Thomas and David; and
Whereas, no success on earth crowns a life as does a marriage that endures the test of time and grows stronger and deeper with each passing year; and
Whereas, Cecil Rorie has learned the veracity of the proverb, "Whoso finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of the Lord," and he now considers one of his crowning achievements having the good sense to marry his beloved Martha; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives join with the family and friends of Martha and Cecil Rorie to honor their half century of married life together. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Wayne Rorie of Chesterfield County on the occasion of their golden wedding anniversary and extend best wishes to them for many more years of blessing and fulfillment.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Wayne Rorie.
