TO CONGRATULATE MR. GLENN P. "BUCK" THOMPSON, OF KERSHAW COUNTY, ON THE OCCASION OF HIS EIGHTIETH BIRTHDAY, AND TO WISH HIM A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND MUCH HAPPINESS IN THE COMING YEARS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that Mr. Glenn P. "Buck" Thompson, of Kershaw County, recently reached the milestone of his eightieth birthday on January 21, 2016; and
Whereas, Buck Thompson was born on January 21, 1936, when the twentieth century was still in its youth, and he has been witness to many of the incredible changes and developments that have come to this nation from that time into the twenty-first century; and
Whereas, as a young man, Buck Thompson loyally answered the call of his nation, serving in the United States Army for two years during a period of Cold War conflict involving East Asia and Southeast Asia; and
Whereas, a devoted family man, Buck has been married to his beloved Carol for fifty-six years. The Lord blessed their union with two sons and one daughter, together making a loving family that has weathered hardships and celebrated blessings; and
Whereas, in order to provide for his family, Buck Thompson pursued technical college studies and, for fifty two years, has owned and operated Thompson Logging, Inc., a successful trucking company based in Camden; and
Whereas; in addition to serving his nation and providing for his family, Mr. Thompson has faithfully worshiped his God at both Ebenezer AME Zion Church and Rock Spring United Methodist Church in Camden; and
Whereas, on February 6, 2016, family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Buck Thompson with an eightieth birthday party at Shaw Air Force Base's Wateree Recreational Center on the banks of Lake Wateree in Camden; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives is proud to honor this South Carolina gentleman at the celebration of his eightieth birthday and joins with his family and friends in congratulating him on reaching this wonderful milestone. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Mr. Glenn P. "Buck" Thompson, of Kershaw County, on the occasion of his eightieth birthday, and wish him a joyous birthday celebration and much happiness in the coming years.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Glenn P. "Buck" Thompson.
