TO CONGRATULATE HARRISON PEEPLES HEALTH CARE CENTER, NOW KNOWN AS BEAUFORT MEMORIAL HARRISON PEEPLES HEALTH CARE CENTER, ON THE CELEBRATION OF ITS TWENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY AND TO EXPRESS APPRECIATION FOR ITS FIRST-QUALITY, COMPASSIONATE CARE OF HAMPTON COUNTY FAMILIES AND BEYOND.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that Harrison Peeples Health Care Center is celebrating twenty-five years of offering exemplary medical services to Hampton County and the surrounding communities; and

Whereas, founded in Varnville by Harrison Lee Peeples, M.D., Harrison Peeples Health Care Center opened in February 1991; and

Whereas, Dr. Peeples, a visionary in the field of rural health, constantly sought ways to serve the community he so dearly loved. This love motivated him to establish the new center with a clear twofold mission: first, improvement of the health and well-being of Lowcountry citizens through the provision of excellent, compassionate health care services; and second, improvement of the future of health care for all through professional training and rural health care research; and

Whereas, in 2014, Beaufort Memorial and Harrison Peeples Health Care Center entered into an ownership agreement to help strengthen the services and resources available to residents of Hampton County and the surrounding areas. Both entities being not-for-profit, this union was particularly appropriate. Today, the two partners, known as Beaufort Memorial Harrison Peeples Health Care Center, strive to provide a patient-centered medical home so that patients have continuous health care for all ages, as well as coordination of health care services. They also help prevent expensive and unnecessary visits to the emergency room and educate people on how to manage their illnesses; and

Whereas, the Health Care Center staff members include Dr. Neal Shealy and Buck Harvey, PA-C, both of whom have been with the practice since its inception. They are assisted in this family-medicine practice by a team of advanced clinical practitioners and support staff; and

Whereas, as part of the Hampton County community for a quarter century, the Health Care Center has provided compassionate care to generations of Hampton County families. Making a difference in peoples' lives is part of its rich heritage, and its commitment to community health and wellness guides its services. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Harrison Peeples Health Care Center, now known as Beaufort Memorial Harrison Peeples Health Care Center, on the celebration of its twenty-fifth anniversary and express appreciation for its first-quality, compassionate care of Hampton County families and beyond.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Beaufort Memorial Harrison Peeples Health Care Center.
