VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR COACH RONNIE WESSINGER, ATHLETIC DIRECTOR OF CHAPIN HIGH SCHOOL, AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM FOR HIS SELECTION AS 2015-2016 REGION IV CLASS AAA ATHLETIC DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR BY THE SOUTH CAROLINA ATHLETIC ADMINISTRATORS ASSOCIATION.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the South Carolina Athletic Administrators Association named Chapin High School's Coach Ronnie Wessinger the Region IV Class AAA Athletic Director of the Year in Charleston at the South Carolina Athletic Administrators Association's annual awards breakfast; and
Whereas, a native of Chapin, he had a successful high school football career before setting off to play football for legendary Coach Danny Ford in Clemson's Death Valley and while at Clemson, also earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education and social studies/history; and
Whereas, Coach Wessinger began his teaching and coaching career at Fairfield-Central High School, and in 1992, he returned home to his high school alma mater where he has served during the last twenty-four years as a teacher with National Board Certification, an assistant coach, an assistant athletic director, and as head athletic director since 2010; and
Whereas, in 2015, he obtained his Certified Athletic Administrator's (CAA) certification and has assisted Chapin High School in maintaining its long and proud tradition in athletics over the years; and
Whereas, under Coach Wessinger's leadership, Chapin High School has garnered nine varsity team regional championships thus far in the 2015-2016 school year, and he has inspired many young people by his standard of excellence, both on and off the field of competition; and
Whereas, together with his beloved wife, Chris, he has reared two fine children, Hunter and Carter; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates Coach Wessinger's lifelong involvement with athletics and the high standard that he has set for himself and the students he mentors and coaches, and the members are grateful for the pride and recognition he has brought to his school and his community through his selection as Athletic Director of the Year. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Coach Ronnie Wessinger, Athletic Director of Chapin High School, and congratulate him for his selection as 2015-2016 Region IV Class AAA Athletic Director of the Year by the South Carolina Athletic Administrators Association.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Ronnie Wessinger.
