VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF WILLIAM J. "JACK" SMITH OF ELGIN AND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS LARGE AND LOVING FAMILY AND HIS MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of William J. "Jack" Smith on Wednesday, May 11, 2016; and
Whereas, born in Mayesville, he was a son of the late Victor Hugo Smith and Etta Mae Lee Smith; and
Whereas, Jack Smith faithfully served as a quality control engineer with Hewitt-Robbins for thirty-five years before he retired; and
Whereas, an avid Gamecock fan, he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family; and
Whereas, together with his beloved wife, Frances Frazier Smith, he reared a fine daughter, Jacqueline Rebecca "Becky" Sussman of Elgin. She blessed him with two adoring grandchildren, Addison Elizabeth Sussman and Cameron Jacob Sussman; and
Whereas, Mr. Smith leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Faye McLeod of Mayesville, and brothers Tommy Smith of Mayesville, Vic Smith of West Columbia, and Jerry Smith of Columbia; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the life and legacy of Jack Smith and for the example of service and kindness he set for all who knew him. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of William J. "Jack" Smith of Elgin and extend their deepest sympathy to his large and loving family and his many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William J. "Jack" Smith.
