A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE CASEY WICKLINE OF GREENVILLE FOR REPRESENTING SOUTH CAROLINA AND THE UNITED STATES ON THE UNITED STATES' NATIONAL BOBSLED TEAM AND TO WISH HIM MUCH SUCCESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, Casey Wickline, a native of Greenville, will join the United States' National bobsled team as they seek to compete in the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang; and

Whereas, Casey is a former high school basketball and soccer player and attended Eastside High School, Bob Jones Academy, and Greenville Technical College. He now serves his community as a Greenville County firefighter; and

Whereas, Casey, without any prior bobsledding experience, attended a bobsled combine tryout at Furman University in the summer of 2014. He performed very well at the tryout and went on for further bobsled training; and

He placed fifth in the 2014-2015 World Cup four-person bobsled at Lake Placid, and won the bronze in the 2014-2015 World Cup two-man bobsled. In addition to his performance in Lake Placid, Casey won the gold in the 2014-2015 North American Cup in four-person bobsledding with pilot Nick Cunningham in Park City; and

Whereas, Casey was called to be a member of the United States' National bobsled team in November 2014, and will compete to go to PyeongChang with the goal of helping Team USA win a gold medal; and

Whereas, Casey married Alexis Wickline on April 21, 2012. Alexis is a medical assistant in Simpsonville and although she has yet to see her husband compete, she strongly supports his efforts to attend the 2018 Olympics; and

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the members of the Senate express their congratulations to Casey Wickline on reaching this extraordinary milestone. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate Casey Wickline upon the occasion of being named a member of the United States' National bobsled team and wish him well as he aspires to compete in the 2018 Winter Olympics.
