VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE HAZEL ANN TISDALE OF LEXINGTON COUNTY UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT, TO COMMEND HER FOR FORTY-THREE YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS AN EDUCATOR, AND TO WISH HER MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN ALL HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the South Carolina Senate honors those individuals who give tirelessly of themselves to the welfare of this great state's most important legacy, its children; and
Whereas, Lexington County's Hazel Ann Tisdale, retiring after forty-three fruitful years as a classroom teacher, stands among their number as an outstanding public benefactor, one much admired in her role as an educator; and
Whereas, in preparation for her life's work, the young Hazel began her education at Anderson College, a two-year institution at that time. After graduating from Anderson, she received her bachelor's degree from Lander College and her master's degree from Clemson University; and
Whereas, beginning her teaching career at Ware Shoals Primary School with third grade, she stayed with that grade during all her years there, 1972-1997. Having moved to Columbia, she took up new teaching duties at Manning Correctional Institution with the South Carolina Department of Corrections (SCDC). At SCDC, she taught reading, math, spelling, and life skills from 1997 to 2001; and
Whereas, in 2002, this veteran teacher accepted a post with Lexington School District One. In 2015, as a teacher of English as a second language, she will enter retirement from that district; and
Whereas, during her well-earned retirement, the Senate trusts Hazel Tisdale will find herself more frequently able to indulge in those favorite pastimes teachers so often have to reserve for summer; and
Whereas, having set the bar of achievement high in her profession, Ms. Tisdale will be remembered with affection and gratitude by colleagues, students, parents, and legislative friends for years to come. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Hazel Ann Tisdale of Lexington County upon the occasion of her retirement, commend her for forty-three years of dedicated service as an educator, and wish her much happiness and fulfillment in all her future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Hazel Ann Tisdale.
