TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND MS. PHYLLIS HARRIOT, MEMBER OF THE HOUSEHOLD OF FAITH CHURCH #3, FOR HER DISTINGUISHED SERVICE.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are grateful to learn that Ms. Phyllis Harriot has devoted more than forty years to her church and church choirs; and
Whereas, born in Hartsville, Ms. Harriot was the eighth of nine children born to James and Marvell Bradley Harriot; and
Whereas, Ms. Harriot is a graduate of Butler High School in Hartsville and of the Fashion Institute of America in Atlanta, Georgia; and
Whereas, during her years of service to her church choirs, she has served as a soloist, leader, and director of the local choir; director and leader of the National Choir; and founder and director of the National Youth Choir, the Young Brothers and Sisters in Christ (YBASIC); and
Whereas, Ms. Harriot has two fine children and seven adoring grandchildren; and
Whereas, it is with great pride that the members of the General Assembly honor Ms. Phyllis Harriot for her dedication to her church and her church choirs, at the local and national levels, and for inspiring young people to appreciate and share the beauty of church music. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and commend Ms. Phyllis Harriot, member of the Household of Faith Church #3, for her distinguished service.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Ms. Phyllis Harriot.
