To whom was referred a Bill (H. 3464) to amend Section 40-7-350, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, relating to barbers and barbering, so as to delete and replace the current language, etc., respectfully
That they have duly and carefully considered the same and recommend that the same do pass:

TO AMEND SECTION 40-7-350, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO BARBERS AND BARBERING, SO AS TO DELETE AND REPLACE THE CURRENT LANGUAGE WITH LICENSING REQUIREMENTS FOR BARBER SCHOOLS AND BARBER SCHOOL INSTRUCTORS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 40-7-350 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:
"Section 40-7-350. A barber college and teachers at a barber college must be registered with the board. These teachers must have had three years' experience as practicing barbers and shall have passed successfully a teacher's examination as prescribed by the board. (A) A license is required from the board to operate a barber school. A barber school may be operated in and as part of an accredited high school, career center, or technical school or college and must be licensed by the board. A barber school that is not part of a secondary school is considered a post-secondary school. The board may prescribe the curriculum of a barber school.
(B) Barber school instructors must be licensed by the board. The instructors must have successfully passed an instructor's examination as prescribed by the board and have at least three years' experience as a practicing registered barber or master hair care specialist."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
