TO HONOR CAMDEN CITY COUNCILMEMBER WALTER M. LONG, JR., ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM CITY COUNCIL, TO THANK HIM FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH SUCCESS AND FULFILLMENT IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the members of the South Carolina Senate honor individuals who give of their time and resources for the good of others; and
Whereas, Camden City Councilmember Walter M. Long, Jr., has contributed eight years of valuable public service to the citizens of the Palmetto State and is thereby worthy of praise; and
Whereas, elected to Camden City Council in November 2006, Walter Long served the citizens of Camden as a councilmember from December 1, 2006, through November 30, 2014; and
Whereas, in preparation for his career, this 1989 graduate of Camden High School furthered his education at The Citadel, graduating from that institution in 1993; and
Whereas, presently, Mr. Long serves as senior vice president of First Palmetto Savings Bank at its main office in Camden; and
Whereas, because he believes in active involvement with his community, Walter Long holds membership in several local organizations. He is a current member and past president of the Camden Rotary Club, past president of the Camden Jaycees, and a member of Grace Episcopal Church; and
Whereas, Walter Long finds strength for his labors in the strong support of his family: his wife, Staci, and their three children. Both Walter and Staci are lifelong residents of Camden; and
Whereas, the members of the Senate recognize that the success of the State of South Carolina, the strength of its communities, and the vitality of American society as a whole depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of individuals like Walter Long who use their talents and resources to serve others. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, honor Camden City Councilmember Walter M. Long, Jr., on the occasion of his retirement from city council, thank him for his many years of outstanding public service to the people of South Carolina, and wish him much success and fulfillment in all his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Walter M. Long, Jr.
