TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 24-3-980 SO AS TO PROVIDE RESTRICTIONS ON THE PLACEMENT, RELEASE, AND RIGHTS OF AN INMATE WHO IS MOVED FROM A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FACILITY LOCATED IN GUANTANAMO BAY CUBA AND PLACED IN A FACILITY LOCATED IN THIS STATE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Article 9, Chapter 3, Title 24 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 24-3-980. Notwithstanding another provision of law, an inmate who is moved from the federal government's installation located in Guantanamo Bay Cuba and placed in a facility located in this State must not be kept in a facility located within two thousand feet of a school, daycare facility, hospital, church, or residential neighborhood."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
