TO AMEND SECTION 23-31-215, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE ISSUANCE OF CONCEALED WEAPON PERMITS, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A RESIDENT OF THIS STATE MAY CARRY A CONCEALED WEAPON UPON CERTAIN PREMISES FOR THE DURATION OF A STATE EMERGENCY DECLARED BY THE GOVERNOR.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 23-31-215 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 123 of 2014, is further amended by adding the following appropriately lettered subsection:
"( ) Notwithstanding the provisions contained in subsection (M) or another provision of law, a resident of this State may carry a concealed weapon upon any premise, except in a school or on federal property, for the duration of a state emergency declared by the Governor."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
