A quorum being present, the proceedings were opened with a devotion by the Chaplain as follows:
In Romans Paul reminds us that:
"We have different gifts, according to the grace given us."
(Romans 12:6a)
Join me as we bow in prayer:
O gracious and all loving Lord, we do thank You for the various gifts these leaders bring into this Senate Chamber. They are each blessed in so many different ways, given talents, insights, interests and passions that typically enrich the lives of South Carolinians all across our State. We ask, O God, that each servant here will always use his or her gifts selflessly and sacrificially, demonstrating courage and wisdom at every turn. Bestow Your grace upon them and guide them especially now as they face issues of major proportions, and continue to embrace in Your care our men and women in uniform wherever they happen to serve. In Your blessed name do we pray, dear Lord. Amen.
