VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE THE HONORABLE WILLIE ROBINSON, JR. UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AS MAGISTRATE JUDGE, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVICE TO ORANGEBURG COUNTY, AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize the Honorable Willie Robinson, Jr. upon the occasion of his retirement; and
Whereas, Judge Willie Robinson was born in Orangeburg to parents Willie and Viola Robinson. He graduated cum laud with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from South Carolina State University. He also received certificates from Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College, the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, and the National Judicial College; and
Whereas, prior to his career with the judicial system, Judge Robinson worked for the Orangeburg Auto Company for fifteen months and for Greenwood Mills Textiles for twenty-one years; and
Whereas, Judge Robinson was appointed Orangeburg County magistrate in 1990, and during his twenty-eight year tenure in this role, he served for a time as both associate chief magistrate and chief magistrate. He has most recently served as supervisor over the central region jury trials, fraudulent check court, and central criminal domestic violence court; and
Whereas, a leader in his community, Judge Robinson has been involved with a number of organizations, including Young Democrats of Orangeburg County, Young Democrats of South Carolina, Young Democrats of America, Orangeburg County Democratic Party, Family Health Centers' Board of Directors, Orangeburg County Board of Education, Habitat for Humanity's Board of Directors, Boy Scouts of America, Edisto #39 PHA as a 32 Degree Mason, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Robert Shaw Wilkinson Consistory, NAACP, National Judges Association, American Judges Association, South Carolina Summary Courts Judges Association, National Bar Association, Orangeburg Bar Association, Orangeburg District Committee on Superintendency, Orangeburg District Black Methodist for Church Renewal, and South Carolina Annual Conference; and
Whereas, a man of faith, Judge Robinson is a devoted member of North Orangeburg United Methodist Church; and
Whereas, in his free time, he enjoys playing golf, watching sports, and watching movies. He also loves to spend time with his mother and family; and
Whereas, Judge Robinson is married to his wife, Carolyn Colter Robinson. He has four children, Willie Kevin Robinson, Brian Christopher Robinson, Kimberly Michelle Robinson, and Brittany Alicia Robinson, and eleven grandchildren; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are grateful for the diligence and commitment that Judge Willie Robinson has shown in serving the people and the State of South Carolina. The members take immense pleasure in wishing him well as he enters retirement. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize the Honorable Willie Robinson, Jr. upon the occasion of his retirement as magistrate judge, commend him for his many years of dedicated public service to Orangeburg County, and wish him continued success in all his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Honorable Willie Robinson, Jr.
