VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR JACOB ROBERT BRADDOCK FOR HIS NOTEWORTHY ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM UPON ACHIEVING THE PRESTIGIOUS RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT, THE HIGHEST AWARD IN SCOUTING.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Jacob Robert Braddock of Troop 224 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Blythewood has successfully completed the requirements for the rank of Eagle Scout; and
Whereas, the son of Colonel and Mrs. Kenneth C. Braddock, Jacob attends Blythewood High School where he is a member of Future Farmers of America, has been a member of the cross country, track, and wrestling teams, and has lettered in cross country and wrestling. He is also a member of the National Technical Honor Society; and
Whereas, in 2006, young Jacob Braddock joined Cub Scout Pack 337 at Lake Carolina Elementary School and earned the rank of Tiger; and
Whereas, he transferred to Cub Scout Pack 224 in Blythewood in 2007 and successfully completed the requirements for the ranks of Bobcat, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos; and
Whereas, in 2011, Jacob earned the Arrow of Life and joined Boy Scout Troop 224 where he earned a total of thirty-three merit badges and held positions as Chaplain's Aide, Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, and Senior Patrol Leader. Among his many honors, he was awarded the Order of the Arrow, the National Honor Society of the Boy Scouts of America; and
Whereas, to earn the rank of Eagle Scout, a Boy Scout must demonstrate that he lives by the principles of the Scout Oath and Law in his daily life; he must plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project helpful to any religious institution, any school, or his community; and he must earn a total of twenty-one merit badges, actively serve in a position of responsibility within his troop for six months after achieving the rank of Life Scout, take part in a Scoutmaster conference, and successfully complete an Eagle Scout board of review; and
Whereas, Jacob Braddock's Eagle Project consisted of designing, constructing, and installing two nature trail benches for Catawba Trail Elementary School in Elgin; and
Whereas, only about five percent of Boy Scouts complete the rigorous requirements to achieve the coveted rank of Eagle Scout; and
Whereas, after successfully completing the Eagle Scout board of review on May 5, 2017, Jacob served on the staff of Camp Barstow in June and July; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the legacy of Scouting in America and take great pride in acknowledging the accomplishments of young South Carolinians like Jacob Robert Braddock who selflessly give of their time, talents, and energy to enrich their local communities and our State. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Jacob Robert Braddock for his noteworthy achievements in the Boy Scouts of America and congratulate him upon achieving the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, the highest award in Scouting.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Jacob Robert Braddock.
