VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CELEBRATE THE DORCHESTER ACADEMY SOFTBALL TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR A SUPERB SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM ON WINNING THE 2018 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION CLASS 1A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the Dorchester Academy softball team once again captured the South Carolina Independent School Association's Class 1A state crown on Tuesday, May 15, 2018; and
Whereas, cheered on by jubilant Dorchester fans, the Lady Raiders earned top honors for the second consecutive year at the state title game. Dorchester swept its best-of-three championship series with Wardlaw Academy to finish 21-4 this season; and
Whereas, Dorchester, intent on making a sweet win even sweeter, brought home several other honors. The team was led by junior pitcher Hannah Reeves, who was named All-State and Class 1A Player of the Year. In addition, Savanna Varn and Savanna Shelton were tapped for All-State; and
Whereas, Jack and Kim Reeves, co-head coaches, ably supported by Randy Varn and Brian Shelton as assistant coaches, drew on their own considerable talents and skills to mold their team members into champions; and
Whereas, further, because the Lady Raiders have lost only two seniors from the 2018 season, Dorchester's spring 2019 softball prospects look decidedly promising; and
Whereas, the journey to winning the state title required discipline, dedication, and teamwork, qualities that always will serve these young women well both on and off the diamond. With admiration, the House recognizes and applauds the outstanding work of the Dorchester Academy softball team and wishes its members much continued success in all their future endeavors. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, celebrate the Dorchester Academy softball team, coaches, and school officials for a superb season and congratulate them on winning the 2018 South Carolina Independent School Association Class 1A State Championship.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Lynné Reeves, head of school, and Jack and Kim Reeves, co-head coaches.
