VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE SENIOR MARI CAGLE LOCKHART OF DANIEL HIGH SCHOOL ON CAPTURING HER FOURTH CROSS COUNTRY STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AND TO WISH HER MUCH CONTINUED SUCCESS IN HER UPCOMING COLLEGIATE CAREER IN CROSS COUNTRY AND TRACK.
Whereas, the House of Representatives is pleased to learn that on November 19, 2019, Daniel High School senior Mari Cagle Lockhart, a Class AAAA runner, won her fourth cross country state championship title (5,000 meters) and will soon graduate as the most decorated cross country runner in the history of Daniel High School; and
Whereas, she has been the Region 1 Runner of the Year five consecutive years, has won twenty-one races with her four individual state championships, and has led the cross country team to two state championships and two state runner-up finishes; and
Whereas, among her many honors, this four-time Gatorade Player of the Year nominee (South Carolina) was selected for All-State five years running and five times was named the South Carolina Coaches Association of Women's Sports Cross Country Player of the Year; and
Whereas, having signed with Georgia Tech on December 13, 2019, Mari Cagle will continue her running career at that fine institution. After an illustrious high school career, she's looking forward to making the jump to the Athletic Coast Conference; and
Whereas, academically, she has plans to major in mechanical engineering; and
Whereas, Mari Cagle gives full credit to Daniel's Coach Paul Dawson and Coach Ashley Perry for the excellent training she has received and for their positive impact on her life; and
Whereas, the House takes great pleasure in saluting Mari Cagle Lockhart on taking home her fourth state cross country title and for the exceptional overall sports record she has compiled thus far. The members look with interest to hearing of the future successes of this talented athlete. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate senior Mari Cagle Lockhart of Daniel High School on capturing her fourth cross country state championship title and wish her much continued success in her upcoming collegiate career in cross country and track.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mari Cagle Lockhart.
