VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF WILLIE ALBERT WRIGHT, SR., OF COLUMBIA AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Willie Albert Wright, Sr., of Columbia on February 1, 2020, at the venerable age of eighty-three; and
Whereas, born June 4, 1936, in Fort Motte, Willie Wright was the only child of the late Louise Wright Lloyd and Deacon James Lloyd; and
Whereas, at an early age, during the pastorate of the late Reverend Dr. Roscoe C. Wilson, Sr., Willie joined Saint John Baptist Church. There he was baptized, and there he served faithfully as a member; and
Whereas, having completed his education in the schools of Richland County School District One, he graduated from C.A. Johnson High School in the Class of 1955; and
Whereas, in God's time, he met and married the lovely Frances Helen, and the couple became the proud parents of two sons, Willie, Jr., and Lewis; and
Whereas, this patriotic American joined the United States Army and rose to become Sergeant First Class (E-7) Willie Albert Wright, Sr. After his retirement from the Army, he began a second career with South Carolina Electric and Gas as a bus driver and retired after twenty years of service; and
Whereas, Willie Wright leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Frances Helen; two sons, the Reverend Willie (Kathy) Wright, Jr., and Lewis (Cathy) Wright; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth Cokely Wright; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Alberta Faulk; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one adopted grandchild; and a host of other family members and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Willie Albert Wright, Sr., of Columbia and extend the deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Frances Helen Wright for the family.
