VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR DAULTON MADDOX FOR A REMARKABLE WRESTLING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM FOR WINNING THE 2020 SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS 2A/1A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that Daulton Maddox of Greenwood County took home a gold medal from the state tournament held on February 29, 2020; and
Whereas, a senior at Ninety Six High School, Daulton defeated his opponent with a 5-4 decision in the 138-pound weight class and captured his first gold medal at the state finals; and
Whereas, although injuries had kept him from an appearance at the state tournament for the past two years, Daulton completed an outstanding season for the Ninety Six Wildcats with more than a hundred career wins; and
Whereas, his victory was all the sweeter when his teammates Cody Fleming and Chance Hewett took first place in the 220-pound weight class and second place at 145 pounds, respectively; and
Whereas, in a sport requiring individual merit and mental stamina, Daulton capitalized on his strength and determination to complete a winning season and, in the process, learned lessons that will benefit him throughout life both on and off the mats; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the honor and distinction that Daulton Maddox has brought to his school and his community, and the members look to hear of his continued accomplishments in the days to come. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Daulton Maddox for a remarkable wrestling season and congratulate him for winning the 2020 South Carolina Class 2A/1A State Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Daulton Maddox.
