A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE HONORABLE THOMAS RANDOLPH, JR., MAGISTRATE OF CALHOUN COUNTY, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE BENCH AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives have learned that the Honorable Thomas Randolph, Jr., serving part-time as magistrate of Calhoun County, began a well-deserved retirement on June 30, 2020, after more than eleven years of faithful and outstanding service to the citizens of the Palmetto State; and

Whereas, the oldest child of the late Thomas and Jannie Randolph's eight children, the young Thomas graduated in 1966 from St. John High School in Cameron. In 1972, he married the former Christine Walker, and they are the proud parents of three daughters, Marvella (Orlando) Katrece Davis, Monique Lashell Randolph, and Christie Rochelle Randolph; and

Whereas, in preparation for his career, Judge Randolph graduated from Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College with an associate degree in accounting. He also holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from South Carolina State College; and

Whereas, for seventeen years, he was employed by Eastman Kodak as a production record clerk and in 1991 became employed as a support technician with International Paper, from which he retired as a team manager in June 2006; and

Whereas, in addition, Judge Randolph served four years in the United States Air Force and dedicated twenty-two years to the South Carolina Army National Guard, retiring in 2008 as a Chief Warrant Officer 3. Though he is stepping down from his post as a Calhoun County magistrate, he will continue to serve as municipal judge for Cameron and St. Matthews; and

Whereas, this man of faith is an active member of Mt. Salem Baptist Church, where he serves on the deacon board, sings in the choir, and is church treasurer; and

Whereas, during his retirement, he plans to indulge in his favorite pastimes of playing golf, traveling, tinkering with carpentry projects, and talking with people; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is grateful for the legacy of leadership and jurisprudence Judge Randolph has bestowed on this great State and appreciates his long and enduring service to the citizens of South Carolina. Taking great pleasure in wishing him well as he enters retirement, the members trust he will find much enjoyment in the more leisurely pace of the days ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Honorable Thomas Randolph, Jr., magistrate of Calhoun County, upon the occasion of his retirement from the bench and wish him continued success and happiness in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Honorable Thomas Randolph, Jr.
