TO CONGRATULATE C. WILLIAM "BILL" TRAWICK UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AS PRESIDENT AND CEO OF BISHOP GADSDEN EPISCOPAL RETIREMENT COMMUNITY, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THIS COMMUNITY, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN THE YEARS TO COME.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize C. William "Bill" Trawick upon the occasion of his retirement as President and CEO of Bishop Gadsden Episcopal Retirement Community; and
Whereas, Mr. Trawick is an alumnus of East Carolina University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in English; American University, where he earned a master's degree in literature; and the University of Maryland, where he earned a master's degree in administration with a health care concentration and a master's certification in gerontology; and
Whereas, prior to his career with Bishop Gadsden, Mr. Trawick worked at Broadmead, a life plan community in Cockeysville, Maryland, and in the federal government; and
Whereas, Mr. Trawick became President and CEO of Bishop Gadsden in January of 1986. During his tenure, the community has expanded from seventy assisted living residences to a full continuum of care serving more than five hundred residents and employing more than four hundred staff members; and
Whereas, under his visionary leadership, Bishop Gadsden has become one of the nation's leading senior living communities, known for its handsome architecture, innovative programming, commitment to service, and philanthropic outreach. Bishop Gadsden is in the top ten percent of nonprofit, single-site senior living communities to achieve the highest level of accreditation and a Fitch investment grade credit rating. It also received the 2018 Organization Philanthropist of the Year Award for the Charleston area; and
Whereas, in honor of his transformative leadership and service to the community, Bishop Gadsden dedicated the Bishop Gadsden Commons in Mr. Trawick's honor, naming it the Trawick Commons; and
Whereas, as an advocate for the aging and for long-term care communities, Mr. Trawick has also served in a variety of leadership roles with state and local advocacy groups, professional groups, and nonprofit organizations, including LeadingAge South Carolina, the South Carolina Board of Long Term Care Administrators, Charleston Area Senior Citizens, Grace Church Cathedral, and many others; and
Whereas, the Senate is grateful for the passion, commitment, and leadership that this son of South Carolina has shown in serving the State and the people of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate C. William "Bill" Trawick upon the occasion of his retirement as President and CEO of Bishop Gadsden Episcopal Retirement Community, commend him for his many years of dedicated service to this community, and wish him much happiness and fulfillment in the years to come.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to C. William "Bill" Trawick.
