A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 12-37-2615, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO PENALTIES FOR FAILURE TO REGISTER A MOTOR VEHICLE, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A PERSON WHO FAILS TO REGISTER A MOTOR VEHICLE IS GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND, UPON CONVICTION, MUST BE FINED FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS OR IMPRISONED FOR A PERIOD NOT TO EXCEED THIRTY DAYS, OR BOTH.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 12-37-2615 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 12-37-2615.    Any person who violates the provisions of Section 12-37-2610 shall be deemed is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall must be fined not more than one five hundred dollars or imprisoned for a period not to exceed thirty days, or both."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
