Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the Laurence Manning bowling team of Clarendon County took top honors at the state tournament held at Gamecock Lanes in Sumter on Monday, February 4, 2019; and
Whereas, to the utter delight of their exuberant fans, the Laurence Manning Swampcats bested a fine, competitive field of teams in a nail-biting finish to claim the state trophy for the fourth consecutive year; and
Whereas, Laurence Manning was down by six points when senior Swampcat Seth Stamps took the lane for the final frame. After posting a spare on his penultimate throw, he knocked down six pins on his final throw to win the championship game by one point; and
Whereas, in a sport that demands precision, accuracy, and controlled power, the Swampcats posted the most precise finish possible in a spirited tournament to garner the team's fourth straight state title; and
Whereas, Head Coach Jay Atkins and his skilled coaching staff maximized their own experience and passion to forge a championship-caliber team and teach these athletes lessons that will prove invaluable through life both on and off the lanes; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives value the pride and recognition that the Laurence Manning bowlers have brought to their school and their community and look to hear of their continued accomplishments in the days to come. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
