TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR D.C. YOUNG FLY ON HIS OUTSTANDING CAREER AS AN ENTERTAINER AND COMEDIAN AND TO WISH HIM MUCH CONTINUED SUCCESS IN THE DAYS AHEAD.
Whereas, most recently named one of Variety's 2019 "10 Comics to Watch," D.C. Young Fly stands out in the world of entertainment for his expansive work in the comedy, acting, and digital spheres. Originally having picked up traction for his hilarious videos and roasts on Vine video hosting service app, D.C. is a fan-favorite with today's generation. He recently concluded an overall holding deal with MTV/VH1 and is the most sought-out veteran cast member of Nick Cannon's Wild 'N Out, which began its fifteenth season this year; and
Whereas, on the acting front, this Atlanta native's credits include BET's The New Edition Story and Will Packer's Almost Christmas. He can be seen as the lead in a Universal comedy feature for MTV, How High 2, which has received notable acclaim for being the highest-rated Saturday program on the network in six years; and
Whereas, as a musician, D.C. Young Fly (born John Whitfield) reached the Top 10 on iTunes R&B earlier this year with his twelfth mixtape, Trapsoul. Popular for his carefully crafted lyricism, D.C. has written for both himself and other artists; and
Whereas, in addition, D.C.'s original online comedy videos have garnered him a huge following, including over nine million Instagram followers, 1.4 million Facebook fans, and twenty-three million views on YouTube. He tours the country as a headliner for sold-out shows in stand-up comedy spaces and as co-host of the hilarious 85 South Show live podcast alongside Chico Bean and Karlous Miller. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor D.C. Young Fly on his outstanding career as an entertainer and comedian and wish him much continued success in the days ahead.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to D.C. Young Fly.
